kombucha, probiotics, blog, foodie, health

In today’s blog, we’re going to help you become a probiotic pro! But first, let’s address some questions…

What are probiotics?

Probiotics are microorganisms introduced to the body due to their beneficial qualities.

Why probiotics?

Probiotics improve the number and types of bacteria in your gut. There are good types of bacteria and bad, but probiotics are filled with the good stuff!

Where can I find probiotics?

Here are five foods packed with probiotics!

  1. Pickled vegetables (pickles, sauerkraut, kimchi, etc.)

Pro tip: Add sauerkraut to your protein, we recommend chicken sausage – yum!

  1. Greek yogurt

Pro tip: Substitute mayo with greek yogurt in your tuna or chicken salad. Add a little garlic salt and pepper to taste!

  1. Kefir (similar to yogurt in taste but has a more liquid texture)

Pro tip: Add kefir and sliced strawberries to your favorite granola for a healthy breakfast bowl. Top it off with some honey and a sprinkle of chia seeds.

  1. Dark chocolate

Did you know? Pure dark chocolate can have up to four times the amount of probiotic matter than dairy! Now that’s guilt-free dessert!

  1. Kombucha

Pro tip: When selecting your kombucha, make sure it includes water, tea, sugar and culture in the ingredients list. If it’s missing one of these ingredients, it’s not real kombucha!

(Note: Kombucha with more than 3-4 grams of sugar likely has added sweeteners)

You’re officially a probiotic pro! Add a few of these to your diet and go enjoy your happy and healthy gut!
